Restaurant review: The Breakfast Club, St Albans

On Sunday I woke up, I confess, still a little tired from the Christmas shopping of the day before, and in desperate need of a wholesome brunch that was just a little unhealthy. A quick Google revealed that, infuriatingly, the ‘all day breakfast’ offered by many local eateries was actually only served in the morning, prior to my Sunday waking hours. Further investigation was needed.

The Breakfast Club in St Albans was just what I needed. A cute cafe with an informal vibe, yet solid, stylish wooden furniture. And most importantly, a killer breakfast menu that they serve all day.

I was particularly impressed that they had a full muffins and eggs section; Eggs Benedict, Eggs Florentine and Eggs Royale all featured, along with some variations. My partner went for the Carnivore Quad; black pudding, bacon, sausage and ham, with poached eggs. Breakfast heaven! I went for the bubble and squeak cakes with a poached egg and black pudding and a roast tomato. It was delicious.

The meals were fully customisable with extras; a nice touch and perfect for specific cravings. It was also very reasonably priced. We treated ourselves to Bloody Marys, which were an incredible £3.75 each!

We left to explore the antique shops of Fleetville well fed and satisfied. We’ll be back.
