ale review: Black Perle, Weird Beard Brew Co

For me, a half pint of coffee milk stout is the perfect after dinner beer. A pint first thing in the evening would likely not be thirst quenching enough, and it’s too heavy a drink for me to consume in large quantities.

This offering from Weird Beard is excellent, and generally this is a brewery who can be relied upon to never deliver anything which could be considered bland.

Black as night, with a subtle coffee scent, this is a potent brew from the first sip. It has a slightly treacle-like consistency, and a sweet aftertaste of milk and burnt sugar.

As someone with only a little bit of a sweet tooth, this is a small doses beer for me. But on a dark winter’s night as a nightcap this is just what the doctor ordered.
