ale review: Tea Kettle Stout, Tring Brewery

I picked up a few bottles of this at my local Sunday market. I’ve had one or two beers from Tring Brewery in the past, but nothing that knocked my socks off.

Tea Kettle was different. Before even taking a sip, I was hit with an intensely smoky aroma with a hint of toffee.

A pleasantly complex beer, this is initially bitter on the palate but also sweet and rounded. In my opinion this is exactly what a good stout should be, but so many miss the mark. And yes, there is a slight aftertaste of tea, although I’m sure I might have just been imagining it.
