Ale review: Notting Hill Ruby Rye

Usually, me ordering something conker-coloured is a pretty good indication that summer is over. I hope that’s not the case this time – especially since I’m going camping in a fortnight – but it was certainly the cooler weather of the last week or so that put me back in the mood for ruby ales.

This was rich and smooth, easy drinking although perhaps a little too heavy since this was one-for-the-road after dinner. Fairly smoky but also fruity with a strong hint of plums.

All in all, very pleasant, unpretentious and not at all boring, despite being from West London.notting_hill
