beer review: Svea ipa, monks brewery

After a three hour walk around Stockholm to make the most of my short time in the city, I couldn’t resist stopping off in a little American craft beer bar.

At 6%, this dark and malty beer was incredibly rich, but also with a refreshing citrus tang.

It avoided the lack of subtlety that some US beers can be accused of. Only just, mind. The hoppiness (yes I’m using that whether it’s a real word or not) was verging on intense. Though in the context of the oft uninspiring ‘euro beer’ of the mainstream bars, it was certainly a wonderful choice for a stop off before dinner.
