Pub and beer review – Australia Red at The Old Red Cow
The Old Red Cow is a tiny place in Smithfield area that fills up quickly midweek. This often makes it necessary to overflow into the upstairs bar. Fortunately, this is one of the few places I’ve been to where the first floor boasts as extensive a beer selection as downstairs. I’ve previously had a great steak followed by a cheeseboard there.
My beer came served in a cute and dinky glass, more short and squat than a regular half glass. It had a malty taste with a slight tang, and a dark red and slightly clouded appearance. It was pleasant, but I would have expected a bit more of a kick for a 6.9%.
