Ale review: Red Baron (Mr Grundy’s Brewery)

I found this in my favourite Nottingham pub this weekend.

This Derbyshire-brewed dark red coloured bitter is a decoy – this tastes like a hefty stout in disguise, with a rich chocolaty scent and an intensely malty flavour with a fruity sweetness.

Delicious but something that I’m glad I waited until after lunch to try – for my tastes this just isn’t refreshing enough, and I wouldn’t want to drink a whole pint of it. I’ll certainly try another Mr Grundy’s Brewery ale when I see one though. If this is anything to go by, it certainly won’t be bland.
