ALE REVIEW: Honey Spice IPA at The Wilmington EC1R

This beer from the trusty Sharps brewery creeps up on you. Firstly, it’s not so pale; it has a translucent darkish amber hue. It smells of nothing at all, tastes refreshingly sweet without the honey being overpowering, and leaves a satisfying richness with an almost savoury aftertaste. Incredibly moreish, which is a little dangerous for a 7%. I had no idea that Sharps did something this strong on draft, but I will certainly be seeking it out again.

If you fancy trying this, you could do a lot worse than The Wilmington. This was my first visit, and I was impressed by the friendly staff who were eager to give me tastes of the many ales on offer. The pub even boasts a Prosecco tap – a good reason to return with my mum in tow.
